Pet Programs

Club Pet is a boarding program that gives pet owners the option of putting their animals in a comfortable home with top-notch, personalized care. This VIP (Very Important Pet) program provides homes for cats, dogs and exotic animals. The profits from Club Pet go directly into other animal programs. The day care program provides pets with exercise and a healthy diet while the owner is away.

To deal with the tough economic times, Helen Woodward has turned to innovative programs to help fund the Center. One of their newest programs is Animeals, which helps deliver food to the pets of the elderly and disabled. After learning that many of the elderly were sharing the food from their Meals on Wheels program with their pets, Helen Woodward launched the Animeals program.

In addition, Helen Woodward operates one of the few Equine Hospitals in the United States with the capability to treat any sick or injured horse. With one of only three recovery pools in the nation, the hospital can assist with the rehabilitation process of any horse.

Programs such as Animeals and the Equine Hospital have helped define Helen Woodward as one of the most sought-after, state-of-the-art centers in Southern California. With a steadfast mission statement to ensure every pet is kept alive, the Center has received plenty of media attention. Local television and radio stations have demonstrated overwhelming support by providing ongoing pet adoption advertisements absolutely free of charge.

The Pet of the Week program highlights one adoptable animal and works with local media and pet stores to find the pet a stable home. Recently, a local country radio station, KSON, has worked with Helen Woodward to make sure each Pet of the Week featured animal gets adopted.

Finally Pet Encounter Therapy (P.E.T.) is a recently launched program that brings pets to abused children's shelters, hospitals, psychiatric facilities, and senior centers for wellness therapies and education.

This program sends out staff and volunteers to more than 45 facilities a month. Helen Woodward’s research has determined that animals can lower human blood pressure, assist with relaxation, and improve long and short-term memory. P.E.T. has received rave endorsements and there is currently a waiting list for facilities wishing to participate.
